PDS Kit - What happens on Day 2?

If you are following along with our Design Sprint Kit video playlist, this blog will shine a light on the activities you will be doing on Day 2 of your Product Design Sprint.

Goal of Day 2:

Day 2 is, perhaps, the most important day of the Sprint. It serves as the pivotal bridge between ideation and execution. On this day we will be coming up with as many solutions to the problem we identified on Day 1 as we can. We will explore every possible option and leave no stone unturned! Navigating the delicate balance between innovation and feasibility, by the end of the day we should have a really diverse and comprehensive list of potential solution sketches that we can choose from on Day 3. Having so many different potential solutions will give us the best chance of creating a really unique solution that addresses all the problems we identified in Day 1.

What will we have at the end of Day 2?

As stated above, by the end of the day we should have a really diverse and comprehensive list of potential solution sketches that we can choose from on Day 3 of the Sprint. Day 3 will be spent stitching various aspects from each potential solution sketch together to form one cohesive solution that we can then prototype.

What does the day involve?

As you can see from the PDS schedule in our documentation, we will begin Day 2 by going through some inspirational images to get our creative juices flowing. After this we will cycle through four separate sketching exercises. These exercises, while a little draining, are designed to push your creativity to the limit and to help force the great ideas out of your head and onto paper in a structured and orderly fashion. We will cycle through these sketching exercises three times, each time focusing on a different aspect of the problem. Each exercise is broken down for you step by step in our video playlist which includes seven short videos for Day 2.
